Furnaces, Industrial, Continous

Back to the invention list

This invention is the basis for a family of industrial furnaces, all based on a similar basic design.

This particular version is specifically designed for the continous smelting and refining of metals, Iron in particular.

While this furnace is slightly more complex than a blast furnace, it requires far less auxiliary equipment, and is far more scalable. (It works equally well for small furnaces designed to produce specialty steels for a small foundry and full scale steel production plants.

It also is far easier to start up and shut down, and tolerates reduced production rates without risk of damage.

This furnace has the potential for direct from ore production of steel, and (potentially) the clean burning of coal, without intermediate coke production.
