Pedometers

Back to the invention list

This invention includes several ideas working towards a more accurate "self calibrating" pedometer. It basically measures the actual stride length, rather than relying on personal averages.

By so doing, a most basic electronic pedometer cuts its error of measurement at least in half. And it reduces it in half again, if it is individually calibrated for the habits of the person using it.

For example, a pedometer with a typical 8 percent measuring error (when calibrated for average stride length) will only give only a 4 % error when used by any individual without calibration. And it will give only a 2% error when used after calibration for the individual person using it.
